Bringing reconciliation into the classrooms is about more than teaching the history of the residential school system. It’s about educating our young people and ourselves to practice reconciliation through our everyday actions and behaviour. In this prevention-focused webinar, educators will consider their role in education for reconciliation and explore how Discover the Witness Blanket.ca can help them establish ways of learning and working together that promote a classroom environment where everyone is valued and respected. Participants will be introduced to the Witness Blanket, a national monument to the children and families impacted by the residential school system, and learn methods for establishing a human rights classroom, building empathy, and connecting with Indigenous communities.
