The Alberta SPCA offers free online CTS course material to help students understand and apply best practices for the care and welfare of domestic animals. Aligned with the CTS Agriculture Programs of Study and tailored to the Alberta environment, these resources highlight current best practices and humane handling techniques. This session will discuss the objectives and content of each course, explore the resources and support available for both students and teachers, and demonstrate how to navigate the CTS Animals Learning Management System. Participants will leave the session with an understanding of the benefits to students, teachers and animals that can come from using the Alberta SPCA course material.

The CTS Animal course was created to encourage students to understand and apply best practices for the care and welfare of domestic animals. They present the latest developments in humane handling techniques, and are applicable to the Alberta environment.
These courses correspond to the Alberta Education Program of Studies as revised in 2010. Teachers can use these resources to teach classes or students can work independently, as courses are set up to be self-guided.
